FAQ
What level of computer skill is required?
The system has been designed to be used by anyone with a basic level of computer skill.

If you can use a mouse and follow the daily and weekly checklists you can use The Electric LawnMower to schedule your work, invoice your clients and collect your payments.

Some additional tuition may be required to process accounting journals and complete GST returns if you are not familiar with these processes.

What computer system do I require?
The Electric LawnMower will operate on any computer running Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP Home.

If you are considering purchasing a new computer we recommend a system running Windows XP Home.

We supply a USB key for backup and software upgrades so a USB port is required.

An inkjet or laser printer is required to print your invoices, statements and reports.

An internet connection is required if you want to send invoices to clients using email.

Sorry but the Electric LawnMower will not run on an Apple Macintosh.

Do I need any other programs installed in my computer?
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is available as a free download from www.adobe.com or can be provided free or charge if it is not already installed on your computer.

An internet connection (Dial-up or Broadband) is required if you want to send invoices to clients using email.  This saves considerable amounts on postage and printing costs.

Your clients will be much faster to pay your invoices when they receive them using email and they can make the payment using internet banking directly into your bank account.

How do I safeguard my records to keep my business secure?
Each day after you complete your work clicking the “Backup” icon will make a copy of all your data onto the USB key.

The USB key has sufficient capacity to store a copy of all your data every day for the last year.  This is important if a computer fault causes the last few backups to contain invalid data.

The USB key needs only be connected to the computer when the backup is occurring.  All all other times the USB key can be removed from the computer and stored in a safe location.  This is good protection from disasters such as theft and fire which might cause loss or damage to your computer.

What is the cost?
The cost is NZ$30.00 per fortnight payable by Automatic Bank payment.

The fortnightly payment includes support and updates via email and through our web site.

The system pays for itself with:
  • less time spent on administration
  • more efficient job scheduling allowing more work to be completed in a day
  • better handling of disrupts due to weather or equipment issues
  • faster invoicing and payment receipts from customers
  • lower accounting costs for GST and end of year tax returns
